Black and minority ethnic survivors

We support survivors of sexual violence aged 12 and over whether the crime happened in the UK or in another country. BAME survivors face many of the same issues as others who have been subjected to sexual violence, but we know that experiences of discrimination and inequality can affect this impact and factors such as language barrier can make the aftermath even harder to navigate. There may be difficult domestic situations and abuse impacted by culture and tradition. We can support you, in confidence, if you have been subjected to any form of sexual violence or abuse as well as Female Genital Mutilation and what is often referred to as ‘Honour-Based’ Violence.

Regardless of immigration status or whether a woman has access to public funds, we offer culturally sensitive face to face support for up to 10 sessions with the same worker and we can provide a female interpreter if that is needed. The  RCS website has a lot of helpful information for women in many different languages.
