SHiFT – Reducing Barriers to Support

SHiFT Project – Supporting Women and Girls Including Transgender

The SHiFT Project (Strength, Hope, Future, Transition), supports women and girls over 12, including transgender, from the following communities:

  • BME
  • Disabled
  • Girls 12 – 18 yrs

Aim of the Project

Our aim is to reach survivors of rape and other forms of sexual abuse from communities currently under-represented in our services, by reducing existing barriers to support and information services.

Recent consultations with various community workers have shown that one of the common issues across the board is isolation, albeit on different levels.

LRCC plans to help reduce the impact of this and the many other existing issues through delivery of the SHiFT Project.  We are already consulting with communities and individuals to help us create a support service that meets their own special requirements.

Who we Support

LRCC supports women and girls, including transgender, who have been affected by rape and other forms of sexual abuse including:

The Big Lottery is supporting the SHiFT Project until the end of 2020 and  LRCC is already planning to sustain it in the longer term.
