The Robertson Trust has awarded a grant of £30,000 (over 3 years) to Lanarkshire Rape Crisis Centre, to increase the hours of the Support Co-ordinator, helping to reduce the waiting list for support. The grant has come at a time when LRCC has been unable to meet the demand for services, and it will ensure that women and girls can access support sooner rather than later.
Centre Manager Anne McGuire said: “Recent figures show that people seeking on-going support from LRCC are having to wait anything up to 5 months. This is not an acceptable situation given the impact that trauma has on individuals. Although we provide telephone contact in the meantime, for most people, on-going, structured, face to face support is what is required for a successful recovery. We are delighted to have received the support of The Robertson Trust, which will make an enormous difference to the successful recovery of more women and girls seeking the specialist support we offer.”
