One aspect of the prevention work is to look closely at the way that women and men are portrayed in the media. Often the media uses hypersexualised images of women to sell products, and promotes a hypermasculinized representation of men. We encourage young people to think critically about the impact that these messages have on the minds and behaviours of young women and men.
We also discuss the impact of an increased accessibility to, and normalisation of pornography. How this affects our understanding of sex and influences and shapes our desires. We look at the negative effects of pornography and how it thwarts our ability to achieve a healthy, consensual and fulfilling relationship with a partner.
