LAUNCH OF SCOTTISH WOMENS RIGHTS CENTRE IN LANARKSHIRE

The Scottish Women’s Rights Centre (SWRC), is a new national service offering free legal information and advice to survivors of gender based violence.

In partnership with Doorway in South Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire Violence Against Women Working Group and the Lanarkshire Rape Crisis Centre, the SWRC has launched a free, weekly surgery for women survivors across the Lanarkshire area.

This long awaited event was launched by MSP Christina McKelvie, who said that she was delighted to see such a valuable service brought to Lanarkshire. LRCC has already seen the Lanarkshire Surgery support 10 women since August, and it is anticipated that demand will continue to grow.

If you are a women living with or have been affected by gender based violence, and you require information about your legal rights, you can make an appointment to speak with the solicitor at the Lanarkshire SWRC surgery, by calling 01698 527006 during office hours.

The service is by appointment only, and you can refer yourself, or an agency can refer you for an appointment.
